Temporary Home

“This is my temporary home
It’s not where I belong
Windows and rooms that I’m passin’ through
This is just a stop, on the way to where I’m going
I’m not afraid because I know this is my
Temporary Home.”

These are part of the lyrics to a new song, Temporary Home that I am sure you have probably heard by now. I really liked this part of the song, because of the meaning behind it. How special it is to think of this earth as our temporary home! All the things in life that get us down, or that sadden us, they are all temporary for those who are saved and on their way to Heaven.

This earth that God has created is just somewhere we are living until Jesus comes back. Until then we are waiting for Jesus to keep His promise to us: “I go and prepare a place for you…” John 14:3 What a wonderful thing to know that when we are done with this earth we will go to a place in Heaven that has been prepared for us.

No matter what gets us down, or when life feels like it beats us up, there is no need to be afraid because this is our temporary home, and we are just passing through!

  1. Amen, indeed.

It's so reassuring to know that this is not the end, it's barely a second in time compared to all eternity we will spend in Heaven.

  2. I truly love this song! I am using it as the base of a Children's church lesson I am planning for June as the kiddos get out of school! Thanks for sharing!

  3. It's such a great song! And sometimes we just need to remeber exactly that.. we are only here temporarily and we have so much to look forward too!
