It’s almost the fall season now, and moms everywhere are officially in back-to-school mode. Those first few weeks, even the first month can be a rough transition both for kids and for moms. There’s lunches to plan, homework to think about, after-school activities, and so much more! While this season is very hectic, you have to remember to take care of yourself too.

It’s easy to get caught up in it all, you have to remember to take care of treat yourself too. Busy moms rarely take the time to think of themselves, but every mom needs to learn how to treat herself so she doesn’t lose herself.

How to “Do it all” and Treat Yourself:

1. Buy the Perfect Pair of Shoes.
Wearing the right pair of shoes makes a woman feel confident and beautiful and what mom doesn’t need a little feel-good boost? The back-to-school season is a great time to treat yourself with a new pair of shoes – especially a pair of boots.

Famous Footwear

Recently, I treated myself to an amazing pair of boots from Famous Footwear – the JELLYPOP Women’s Leo Bootie. This pair is so so comfortable, easy to wear, and great for busy days when I’m getting my son off to school, taking my daughter to appointments, and anything else on my crazy schedule.

4 Ways to Treat Yourself as a Busy Mom

It can be hard to power through the business of the season, but the perfect pair of shoes can help you feel more confident and prepared. Thankfully, Famous Footwear has a large selection of shoes and boots so there’s something there for every mom no matter her style!

it's okay2. Grab the Perfect Treat.
If you’re anything like me, you love your coffee. Don’t be afraid to go grab some coffee, tea, or some other delicious treat through your favorite drive through! Better yet, if the kids are in school, go inside and just sit and enjoy the time alone.

Because we all know we must savor the few times we have that are quiet, calm, and without the constant clamor of “Mommy! Mommy! Mommy!” in the background.

3. Find the Perfect Time.
Okay, okay… As a busy mom, we all know there is no perfect time to do pretty much anything. There’s no time to shower or remember to brush your teeth some days, let alone finding time for yourself.

But finding the perfect time might not look like what you think! Find your time by going to bed just 5-10 minutes early, taking a few minutes alone in your room, or choosing to find the time you need instead of doing something else.

During these times, do something for you. Take a yoga class, do some coloring in your favorite adult coloring book, or take a hot shower. Still can’t find the time? Practice doing deep breathing for 30 seconds, do a five-minute yoga class on youtube, just stand in the shower for 3 minutes and let the quiet surround you. It doesn’t have to take all day, but you can find that time.

4. Perfect the Art of Letting Go…
Moms, so many times I hear things like, “I have to clean my house” or “I have to cook a healthy organic and whole food meal for my family. You do not have to do these things. It’s okay to occasionally let these things go. So the house isn’t as clean as it could be, you can clean it tomorrow. So the kids eat mac and cheese from the box one night, they eat healthy the rest of the week and that’s a pretty good balance.

Learn to let these things that seem to be important, go. I don’t want to look back and be able to talk about how my house was always clean. I want to be able to share fun family memories and things I did with my kids.

So mamas, take a nap instead of cleaning. Don’t cook one night a week and have the family make their own fun dinner instead. Let go those little things like that extra load of laundry you just have to do. I promise you it will be okay and you will be a better mama because of it!

  2. I love all of this so much! I’ve always told myself I would never put myself last as a mom, and yet, I do that today.. and pretty much every day. It’s not easy when you’re constantly caring for others, but it’s a must when you’re caring for them. If you don’t take care of yourself, you’re less likely to do a good job in caring for others.

I’m slowly learning what it means to be a sane mommy, and why my kids deserve one. It might sound silly, but as a busy mom, I forget that my sanity is a necessity.

    1. It’s so true, but I think also a good thing when balanced. Yes, we love our kids and want what’s best for them, but at the same time, we shouldn’t kill ourselves trying to meet their every need. I agree sometimes I forget my sanity is a necessity too. I think we all do! 🙂 Good luck on treating yourself to a little “me” time!

  3. Ahhh my comment didn’t post.? This was wonderful!! I love love loved reading it! A new pair of shoes is seriously the best sometimes & lets be honest a cup off ☕️☕️☕️ Can make a world of difference ?
