He is Risen!

He is RisenIt’s that time of the year again where families get together and celebrate new life, the beginning of spring, and most importantly the rising of our Savior. Easter to me, is not about the Easter bunny, or the eggs, or the candy. It’s not even about families coming together, it’s about remembering what Christ did for us on the cross, and knowing that we serve a risen savior!

This past week as I started to see more and more posts on facebook, about Easter and about everyone’s plans I got a little sad. I had totally forgotten that Easter was this weekend, and had not planned a nice meal, or even gotten a pretty Easter dress. I started thinking about it more and realized we would not get to see our families this weekend either. It made me sad. But as I talked to my husband about it, he reminded me that I have him and my little unborn baby, and they are my family. He also reminded me that Easter is not about family, but of course that Christ had risen from the dead. I knew that to him it didn’t matter that I had forgotten about Easter, he had everything he needed right here.

Now that I have my perspective where it needs to be, I am going to scrounge up something bright and pretty to wear, and then I am looking forward to our morning church service where we will be blessed with a beautiful Easter Cantata. After that we will have some lunch from the crockpot, and spend the rest of the beautiful day together!

As a friend on facebook wrote on her status… “But if all I had was the Savior, I’d still be far blessed beyond what I deserve.” And that is so true! I wish you all a beautiful Resurrection Sunday!

I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die.” John 11: 25-26

  1. I totally agree with your friend that said "But if all I had was the Savior, I'd still be far blessed beyond what I deserve.". What a very true statement. With how the world has commercialized Easter, the true meaning has been lost. Thank you for this beautiful post on this Easter morning.

  2. Oh my goodness, I feel so out of it. I haven't been keeping up with blogs in awhile, including my own.

This is such a sweet post. Easter seemed to have crept up on me as well, but with my little family and friends it was perfect!
